Fellow Loaf fiddle headers, if you haven't made it out yet, in Farmington or north of Farmington, no need to worry. Went out today, May 14th, and very, very few have even broken the surface; and some of those that had were blackened and had been killed by a frost...they are really late this year! Barely got enough for a few meals. They definitely need more sun and warmer weather to get them growing...if anyone else has any updates, please post them for us.

Went fiddle heading again yesterday, May 19th, with a few other family members and got 10 gallons...they are beginning to come up pretty good, but they still have not peaked, yet.

Yes, b632, tomorrow should be excellent picking...if they are up a little too high beside the stream or river, where you pick, just get back into the fields or woods, and you should be well rewarded. My wife and I blanched and froze many packages of fiddle heads last night. If we were not headed to our camp on East Grand Lake tomorrow, we would definitely be out there picking, too...hope you have good luck, b632.
