Saddleback offseason improvements

Saddleback offseason improvements

Postby WrathOfAramark » Fri Apr 29, 2022 7:52 am

Starting a thread to keep track of offseason improvements at Saddleback.

Andy Shepard sent out an e-mail earlier this week identifying offseason activities.

For 2022:
- Completion of mid-mountain lodge at the top of the Rangeley Quad
- Installation of used 4-person lift as the "Sandy"
- Beginning building employee housing building
- Paving of access road from Dallas Hill to the baselodge (4+ miles!)
- Completion of master development plan

Prices go up May 1. The ski bum pass isn't too bad for Tues-Thurs mid-week skiing. They did some multi-day passes last year that worked out to about $60 a day for 4 days.

/Full disclosure, bought a house over that way last fall.
//Spent more time working on the house than skiing this past winter.
///And every weekend we were up in Jan and Feb it was -20

Thanks! I'll be happy when I don't have to spend almost every weekend working on one house or the other. Should be done with that in.. oh... about 30 some odd years when I retire.

Not sure if this is an improvement. No judgement either way.

Andy Shepard announced he would be stepping down as GM earlier this year (link) and Jim Quimby has been promoted to be the new Saddleback GM (link)

Snow guns are on.

Was up there last weekend. They had all the towers up on the Sandy Quad and bottom terminal looked pretty complete. Comms lines were up on the towers but no haul rope in sight.

Haul ropes seem to still be part of the "supply chain issues" with several lift projects being delayed as a result (including at Loon and Whistler) but I believe that the one for SB is showing on their webcam now

Good call. The spool wasn't by the terminal when I was up. Winding the haul rope on today.
