i need new skis

Postby b632 » Tue Jan 14, 2014 5:08 pm

this shit show has me thinking i should buy some new skis! My little bastard son (naw i love him to death) runaway away to colorado with my soul 7's leaving a hole in the quiver. my short list
Soul 7
moment deathwish (what a bad name)
line sir francis bacon
kastle xx110
dps 112
leaning hard toward the Moment, american made and some good reviews. i really loved the soul 7"s but i have been on Rossi stuff for years a change wouldnt hurt. i have the dps 99's so the 112's seems like too much DPS. i you haven't skiied the dps you should, great ski
any suggestions in the 100-112 waist category?

Give the blizzard gunsmokes a look. I picked up a pair of 186 this fall. 114 underfoot. Rocker with some camber underfoot. Wood core so playful and surprisingly quick (even mounted with tele) compared to my Bonafides. I've skied them twice in the freshies. They floated in the powder in the "big" storm we had mid December (12-15"). They shined when the snow got chopped up. They were even really fun later in the day when everything was bumped up. Very stable at speeds, even in the chop. Never did not find the skis' speed limit. I skied them in the more minor storm we had around Christmas. Even four inches of snow was fun. Also tested them on a few more typical Sugarloaf days. Holds an edge well on the groomers, although (not surprisingly) not a go to ski on skied off hardpack. But doable. The recommended mount appears to be true center ski, so more tail and less tip than I'm used to. That position felt a bit off, so I moved them back 1cm. That seemed to really hit the g spot. Don't know if they have gunsmoke demos at downhill supply or happy tunes. If not, pretty sure all speed in portland has a demo pair. Definitely worth a try.

Liberty helix. I love line but not the bacon, it's a dull ski.

Can't say enough about my bonafides as well.

Put a Jesus fish on your skis so your son won't take them.

I'll be sure to drag you to ski something that no new ski should ski. Once you get your first core shot, the worry goes away.

New skis in hand, mounted with Rossi turntable bindings, and on the slopes today.... The winner was the Moment death wish. So far all it was cracked up to be. Really playful and good pop.
I brought them to the quad, clicked in, got in line and a kid comes into the single line hot and backwards right over my skis! Before I had gone 10 inches... I took this as a good omen and tried to beat the crap out of them the rest of the day.

Has anyone else discovered http://blistergearreview.com an awesome site with some of the best ski and gear reviews I have ever read
